Signs of new growth: creativity
I can't seem to drive by a yarn shop without stopping. And then I can't seem to leave without buying at least one skein of yarn. I could spend hours in a yarn shop, just soaking in all of the different colors and textures of yarn - there is something that happens in my mind as I'm looking at all of it - I see all of the potential projects and things that I could create, and I leave feeling energized! I finished my first sweater for myself, and I just made a little baby sweater for a friend who is having a boy soon. I found myself blissfully unaware of time as I sorted through racks of buttons, to find the perfect ones for the sweater. I ended up with little dinosaurs. I love it when I have time to work on creating things with my yarn - and when I'm knitting, I am most in tune to listening to God. What do you do that encourages your creativity?

This really struck a chord with me, too... The idea that if I give my TIME (schedule) to the Lord, give up the worrying that eats away at me and makes me even more anxious, I free up time to be creative! Since I do a lot of "creative" work anyway, (music and pottery, altho I think of them both as "crafts") I was excited to find out I really did want to be creative... A lot of my pottery work is practice on the wheel, but that's only the beginning... There is surface design and glazing, and planning the way the pot should look before you slap that clay on the wheel... That's the more creative part that I often don't spend enough time on... So to see that freedom open up to me, and to recognize where I need to give up time-wasters, was inspiring! I have read some of "the Artist's Way" that Sara refers to , and it does cause me to recognize a need in me... in all of us... to use the creative juices the Lord gave us... To recognize them as God-given, and God-driven... and thus important to the body of Christ..
